Brazil Fast Food, controller of Bob's and Pizza Hut restaurants in Brazil, strengthened  sales and was able to increase 21% in net profit in the second quarter ended June 30, 2013. Earnings rose from R$ 3.6 million to R$ 4.4 million on an annual basis.
Net revenue totaled R$ 57 million from April to June, 14% higher than the R$ 50 million reported a year earlier. Sales at restaurants operated by the company itself rose 14.5% in the period, to R$ 46.1 million. Revenues of franchised units rose 12.4% to R$ 10.9 million.

According to the company, the sales increase was due mostly to the Confederations Cup, which brought a large number of tourists to the six metropolitan areas of the country. Nevertheless, Brazil Fast Food reported that protests in June had a negative impact, because the stores were forced to close earlier than usual for security reasons.

Operating profit advanced 25.3% in the quarter compared to the same period last year, to R $ 63 million.

In addition to the Bob's and Pizza Hut brands, the company also operates KFC restaurants (fried chicken), Doggis (Chilean hot dogs franchise) and Yoggi.
